Bios

At the University of Antwerp’s Faculty of Design Sciences, teaching and research assistant Nathan De Feyter, associate professor Johan De Walsche, and final-year Architecture students Ana-Clara Van den Berghe, Axelle Van Nuffelen, and Paulien Van den Nest are involved in a collaborative, design-driven participatory action research project at the Interdisciplinary Studio for Territories in Transition (ISTT). Nathan De Feyter's PhD research investigates the roles of designer-researchers within action research, linking fieldwork insights with theoretical frameworks. Johan De Walsche emphasises the methodologies of practice-based and architectural design research, highlighting their transformative and emancipatory potential. The students are co-writing and co-designing their dissertation, using the Ten Eekhovelei in Deurne, Antwerp, as a case study.
